Service
The security guard will stand at the designated workstation with one hand facing upwards. He will be holding a table bell. If the bell rings, the service is done and another security guard will assume his post.--
The table bell is an object not used very often in the 21st century in its original function, being often relegated to a decorative item, but present in the memory of many people as a possible extension to their actions. By ringing it, the sound dates back to a servant atmosphere. A customer needs something and someone will have to serve him/her. For those who ring it, it is expected that their own desire will be met (a desire that varies across a wide spectrum, from information on which bus to take, to which Pollock is available for sale). In this environment, there are also listeners who – at the moment the sound of the doorbell is listened by them – have to be ready to serve the caller. In this sense, the sound propagates in two distinct subjectivities: the one who is served and the one who serves.
Taking this thinking into consideration, Amador e Jr. Segurança Patrimonial Ltda. presents the following service: Service. The security guard will be in position at a pre-established place with one hand facing upwards. He will be holding a table bell in this hand. When someone rings the bell, he will leave the place and will be replaced by another security guard. Thus, the one who is put into tension in this action is the subject who desires. Anyone who rings the bell and expects to be served will always be frustrated, because by ringing the bell he is doing the work himself/herself. The intention is to create a contradictory situation within the servant atmosphere generated by the sound. When I ring the bell I demand to be served, but I myself do the Service.
